How to Taste the Sweetness of Life (+8 things to try)

Alright, I’m going to start this post off with its intention. The purpose of this post is not to tell you what is wrong with you. The purpose of this post is not to tell you that you are not doing things right, or that you are feeling something you are not. The purpose of this post is to shine some light on the sweetness of life. The purpose of this post is to help those who want to taste the sweetness. The purpose is to help those who want the guidance. Shall we begin?

Life is sweet.

There are so many things in life that make me smile. Life is sweet, and sometimes I know it can be difficult for others to see this. I want you to know that it is not your fault, and there is nothing wrong with you. Sometimes darkness we experience in life can be overwhelming. We cannot control the turns life may take. But we can control how we deal with these obstacles. This is why it is important to try to hold onto the sweetness.

It’s your choice.

As a spiritual coach, and teacher, I would never tell you that you cannot feel a certain way. In fact, it is good to feel angry, sad, depressed, overwhelmed. These feelings must be experienced and expressed for you to have a full human experience. One thing I would tell you as a spiritual coach, and teacher, is that you should not hold on to negative feelings. Experience them, and then let them go. Dwelling on negative feelings or experiences, dims your light. It blocks you from blossoming into who you are meant to be. It keeps you from tasting life’s sweetness. You have the choice to either dwell on past hurts, or let them go, and grow from the experience. I know that sometimes this seems tough. I know that things happen that we don’t want to happen. But we must persevere for our loved ones, but most importantly, ourselves.

What you can do.

If you are ready to let go of old things that are dragging you down, I invite you to do so now. We had a new moon a few days ago, and that is a good time to start fresh. Here are my suggestions for how you can let go, and start seeing the sweetness of life again:

1. Journal.

Journaling is a fabulous way to really get deep in your mind and soul. When you journal, you are being absolutely free and honest with yourself. That is what truly matters, here. You must be honest with yourself in order to truly know where you stand. You may find that there is still a lot of healing to be done in certain areas of your life. This is okay. You have begun the healing process by simply writing out your feelings or concerns. From here, you can start pondering ways you can heal, and you can figure out where you need to go next.

2. Communication.

As humans, we need interaction with other humans. Even if you consider yourself to be more of a loner, it will still be beneficial to you to have a few close friends, or spend time with family members. And with today’s day and age, it is very easy to find people with similar interests on social media. Since I have started blogging, I have been very  much enjoying speaking with people on my blog, or through social media. It’s a great place to start! But if you are not interested in this type of communication, I would suggest finding support groups for things you are currently experiencing or have in the past. If you don’t want a support group, another way to meet people is to attend classes (i.e. spiritual classes, art classes, cooking classes, yoga) in your area. Even if you don’t make friends for life, having fresh interactions with new people may bring some sweetness to your days.

3. Spend time with children.

If you have kids, play with them. Do something special for them. If you do not have kids, maybe a family member or friend does. If neither of those are an option, find a local organization that helps underprivileged children. There are two in my area, for example, one is about doing art projects with children who were abused, abandoned, etc. There is another one that is for young girls who were abused, where they teach them classes on various subjects, and counsel them. These types of places are always looking for good people to come and enhance these kids’ lives. I love the children that are in my life (I don’t have my own). I work in an academic enrichment facility, and speaking with kids every day lights up my life. If this idea resonates with you, I highly suggest going for it. Kids are amazing and have lots of wisdom to share.

4. Spend time with animals.

I’m going to say pretty much the same thing about animals that I said about kids. If you have a pet, spend a lot of time with them. Animals are our healers, and their healing powers are amazing. If you don’t have a pet, visit a family member or friend who does. Or go volunteer at a local animal shelter. You will not regret this, either. A very close friend of mine just lost her mother-in-law. She and her husband decided to give their own dog to her father-in-law. He told my friend that their dog is now his “little buddy.” When she told me this story, I was in tears by the time she said that. Animals are the purest example of unconditional love. Their dog took on the role of healer and companion for a man who just lost his wife. How sweet is that?

5. Do things you enjoy.

This is something I cannot stress enough. Doing what you enjoy is one of the most sweetest things about life. Think of something you used to enjoy, in the past. Maybe you should start that up again. Think of something new you have always wanted to try. There’s no time like the present. If you’re unsure of what would bring you joy, try any of the things I listed above. If you’re looking for something different, go out and find it. Try a lot of different things, until you find something very special. There are no rules to how many new things you can try.

6. Dance and sing.

It may sound a little ridiculous to you, especially if this is something that you don’t normally do. But dancing and singing is an amazing way to move your body, and align your chakras  (energy centers of your body). Dancing and singing are ways of expression. Humans need to express themselves to function properly. Put on some good music and get to it. Maybe this exercise will lead you to more fun and sweet experiences?

7. Faith.

If you have been reading my posts for a little while now, you know my love of angels. Invite them into your life. They can help you to heal, and give you the guidance and support you need. Same goes for the fairies, or ascended masters. Research these different lightbeings, and find the one that you resonate with best. Invoking them into your life is one of the best things you could ever do. Build a relationship with them, and watch your life transform.

8. Love.

I’m sure you know where I am going with this, but I am going to reiterate this concept’s importance.  Love yourself. If you have been going through a rough time, recently, please give yourself a hug. Look in the mirror and tell yourself, “I love you.” Give yourself a pat on the back. Anything! Please know that anything you have been experiencing is part of your unique path. Be proud of yourself for making it this far. Be proud of yourself for knowing it is time to let go and heal. You are your number one supporter in life. If you are not feeling like your best self, let your number one supporter make you feel that way.

Conclusion.

I hope you gained something you can take away from this post. In life, everything happens for a reason. I believe that there are no coincidences. Everything that comes into our lives, and leaves an impact is designed for our personal and spiritual growth. When we can see the beauty that is life, and taste its sweetness, we can overcome anything. Embrace your journey, and fill your life with as many sweet moments as possible.
