The Solar Plexus Chakra

Your Power Center.

So, you have heard of the seven main chakras, yeah? The chakras are energy wheels on your body, that govern different emotions and physical feelings. Each chakra is connected to a certain area of the body and mind. They work together to keep you balanced, enlightened, and living your best life.

Today, I am going to teach you a little more about your third chakra, manipura, otherwise known as the solar plexus.

The solar plexus vibrates at a yellow color, so if you have been attracted to the color yellow or yellow foods lately, you may need to take a look at your solar plexus. The solar plexus is basically your power center. It is where your self-worth, passion, and presentation lies – and by presentation, I mean the way you show up in the world.

When this chakra is balanced, you have a high and healthy self-worth. You are creating the life you love and you are standing in your power. Things seem to manifest very quickly for you and you tend to be a very positive person, with a great outlook.

Just like with anything in this reality, there is duality to the chakras. They can be either overactive or underactive, and that is where trouble can creep in. When a chakra is balanced, is is a good size, and it is spinning at a good pace on your body. When a chakra is underactive, it is smaller and slower. When it is overactive, it is moving too fast and is too large. (This can all be seen with use of a pendulum – more on that in future posts.)

The solar plexus governs the digestive system. When the solar plexus is out of balance, you may experience stomach upsets, bloating/gas, nausea, etc. In her book, You Can Heal Your LifeLouise Hay says that the stomach, “holds nourishment,” and “digests ideas.” Stomach problems result from, “Dread. Fear of the new. Inability to assimilate the new.”

If you are fearful of the new, you are likely not standing in and owning your power, thus creating solar plexus/digestive issues. The cycle then begins of feeling insecure in who you are, and then feeling insecure because of your stomach problems. You may start to feel trapped. It is also possible that you may experience feelings of anxiety and depression.

The good news is that this is not bad. I know you are probably thinking, “how can these issues not be bad?” But let me explain.

Your body loves you. It is your home and it is a blessing. Your body tells you when something needs healing or clearing within you. These things that truly need healing are out-dated thought patterns or emotions. They might also be past experiences or traumas – whether from your current incarnation or a past life.

When the body sends you physical symptoms it is your sign that something needs to be healed. So, when you are experiencing solar plexus problems, that means there is something that you need to take a closer look at.

You want to strive to have a balanced solar plexus so that you can blossom and manifest your dreams, while feeling comfortable being who you are.

Luckily, there are many ways you can begin the healing process of the solar plexus. My number one suggestion would have to be meditation. There are many, many videos and recordings out there which can help you focus in on your solar plexus energy. Something you might want to do while meditating with the solar plexus, is visualize a yellow flower opening up, where your solar plexus resides. This flower symbolizes your awakening power, and will amplify the meditation for you.

Another thing you can do to enhance and strengthen the solar plexus is carry a citrine crystal with you. You might also want to place a citrine crystal on your solar plexus during meditation. Citrine is an all-around feel good stone and it is yellow, just like the solar plexus.

Eating yellow food can also help promote solar plexus health. Grab some bananas, yellow squash, and add lemon juice to your water. The lemon juice will also help balance the digestive system.

One last suggestion for healing the solar plexus is using affirmations. You can do this by simply stating, “My solar plexus is powerful, healthy and strong.” Or you can create unique affirmations that promote the healing of the situations that are causing your solar plexus to be imbalanced.

Happy solar plexus, happy YOU.

Keeping your solar plexus healthy and happy will have a huge impact on other chakras and other areas in your life. Awakening the solar plexus is kind of like your first step on your path to full spiritual awakening. Once you tap into your inner power, you will be an unstoppable force!
